Rights and Responsibilities

George Carlin and I differ on the conclusion. As I have always said, if I was to outlaw anything, I would outlaw murder. Because in stealing someone's life there is little possibility for transformation after that. The carceral bent that has been developed in too many of us is another matter.
Murder of someone's reputation is about a public telling of lies about them, not exposing the truth of their wielding power in an abusive manner. We all probably understand murder in the context of taking someone's life.
All of natural expression is on a spectrum, not a binary.
Context always matters.
Back to rights though... I have been saying for a long time, "do you have rights if you need to have lawyer money to have an opportunity to enforce them?" In truth, do people understand that rights come with responsibility? Most seem to want to have rights without responsibility/accountability.
We have a long way to go, but we have the power to change it all overnight. Think of the days before the wheel. The context of travel took a LONG time back then. Now we have rockets, the internet and many other technological advances. If only we grounded ourselves in sustainability while making "progress."
I wonder what it will take? I continue...
